The MOVE vehicle was deployed to Jacksonville, FL from May 3 thru 11. It was viewed by approximately 320 students and faculty at the Foundation Academy, then 150 students and faculty at the Lighthouse Christian Academy, and then 145 students and faculty at the Morning Star Academy. Additionally, we had a Jacksonville section meeting at the truck, 7 people, and a meeting of the Beaches Amateur Radio Society, 5 people.

Everyone that saw the truck was captivated. The kids asked very good questions and we thoroughly enjoyed showing off the capabilities of the truck, promoting engineering, and getting new ideas / feedback.

IEEE-USA’s Community Outreach Initiative (The MOVE Project) offers a mobile emergency relief program committed to assisting victims of natural disasters with short-term communications, computer, and power solutions. These temporary emergency relief provisions will help people stay connected and make sure they can access the help they need. Services will include cell phone charging, and lighting to disaster victims.

IEEE volunteers will provide this technical assistance through a mobile vehicle that will be accessible during a disaster, and offer these services. It will also provide a learning opportunity for the general public in the area of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math).
