MOVE Providing Critical Communications Services

MOVE_RedCross_WV_07102016When the local internet service provider went down in the West Virginia hills, critical phone and Internet communications stopped — but only until the IEEE MOVE vehicle’s satellite capability was deployed. Even FEMA stopped by to use our internet access for a short time.

Update – July 9, 2016:
Another early morning call that the Internet was down in District 1. MOVE truck responded and supplied Internet access for volunteer computers and phones at district 1 headquarters. We ran for 5.5 hours while ISP repaired another fiber break. Red Cross activities continued normally while other agencies were unable to function.
