MOVE Training at SoutheastCon 2020

We are happy to announce that on March 12-13, we will be providing training for those interested in being a MOVE volunteer (and Red Cross Disaster Technology Services team member) at SoutheastCon 2020 in Raleigh, NC.

1. Red Cross DST 101 Training

March 12, 2020

Although MOVE efforts are often centered around the MOVE truck and its capabilities, MOVE volunteers also assist the Red Cross, our national partner, at natural disasters on the Disaster Services Technology team. This is a 1-day version of the DST 101 training made specially available for IEEE MOVE volunteers who want to be trained and ready to deploy, if needed. You should sign up as a Red Cross volunteer before the class so you may receive appropriate credit.

Class is free but neither the region nor MOVE cover travel expenses.

DST 101 is a prerequisite for deploying in a disaster.

2. MOVE Truck Training

March 13, 2020

MOVE is an IEEE-USA initiative where IEEE volunteers help with both natural disaster relief and STEM education efforts. The MOVE truck is often a central part of the initiative’s efforts. In this training, you will learn about the truck capabilities, how to operate safely as a MOVE team member, what to expect on a deployment and what is expected of you. Come join the exciting MOVE team and provide comfort and support for people who have been impacted by a natural disaster.

Class is free, but there is no region or MOVE travel expense coverage.
