On 14 September, IEEE MOVE deployed from its assignment at Horseshoe Beach Florida for Hurricane Idalia to New England to support Red Cross operations associated with Hurricane Lee. 
18 September 2023 – Thomas Kimball and I completed our return trip from Hurricane Lee in New England. Heavy traffic, heavy rain, and a long backup from an accident extended our trip to Raleigh by almost 2.5 hours.
But we are back safe and sound. Thomas will fly home tomorrow morning. Logged almost 1,550 miles in the last 4 days and 2750 miles in the last 3 weeks. From Florida to New England.
We are blessed that our services were not needed in New England, for all the Red Cross volunteers that were prepared for the worst, and for for the safe return of all involved.
We were told to rest up. We are only half way through the hurricane season and every day is a possible earthquake day. We still have several team members in Florida supporting the on-going disaster relief operation from hurricane Idalia.
IEEE MOVE will continue to develop our member volunteers and our equipment to support those in need from disasters with power and communications.

15 September 2023 – Long day of driving. Almost 1,000 miles the last 1.5 days. Today I picked up Thomas Kimball as my crew member. Thomas is a great addition to the team.
We are currently positioned in Mansfield Massachusetts. Red Cross has instituted a ground stop due to projected winds. Everyone is to stay at their current location. So we are here until they lift the ground stop.
As soon as it is lifted, I am sure we will receive an assignment. We are centrally located close to I-495 and Cape Cod or I-95 to reach any northern location. Now we wait to see the impacts from hurricane Lee.

We are in Virginia this evening, will have a long drive tomorrow. Hope to position in Massachusetts or New Hampshire so we can be available to respond where required as soon as the storm passes.
