MOVE Across America 2022

Visiting IEEE Members and Volunteers Across the Country

MOVE (Mobile Outreach using Volunteer Engagement) is an IEEE-USA initiative established in 2016 and is a mobile emergency relief program committed to assisting victims of natural disaster with short-term communications and power solutions.  When not supporting disasters, it provides learning opportunities for the general public in the area of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math).

MOVE has deployed to over 27 disasters in the past 6 years throughout the eastern United States.  In 2021, the team acquired a second truck and are in the process of positioning one of the two trucks to support the western United States.  With these two trucks,  MOVE will be able to support the entire US.

The truck destined to support the western U.S.  departed from its current location in North Carolina on 22 April.  The MOVE truck will stop at New Orleans at the IEEE PES T&D conference.  After the conference, the team will head west stopping at various locations to meet IEEE members and introduce them to the MOVE truck and team members.  It will end at San Diego at the 2022 VIC Summit & Honors Ceremony Gala on 6 May where it will be housed to support any disaster in the western half of the US.
